Your 1st Carnival

If you wish to enjoy the carnival in Salvador, but still don't know how the largest street party in the planet works, here you'll find out.

What is Salvador's carnival

Salvador's carnival is a street party, which counts with the participation of the people.

Over 19 Km of blocked streets for the parade of millions of people following the trios (flat-bed trucks equipped with powerful sound systems).

Around 170 organized parades called ´blocos` form the carnival in Bahia, they are blocos of trio, alternatives, blocos of afro, blocos of afoxés, blocos of transvestites, kids parades, blocos of indians and percussion.

The main circuits

Dodô's circuit (Barra/Ondina)

The parades/blocos gather at Farol da Barra, where the parade starts, and then go through the entire sea coast of Salvador up to the district of Ondina.

This circuit is approximately 4 Km long. It is also known as the alternative circuit, as it was created recently as an alternative to the street circuit, which was rather saturated.

The circuit is all along the seacoast, which makes it nice and pleasant.

Osmar's circuit (Avenida - street circuit)

It gathers at the Corredor da Vitória. The trio parades through the entire Avenida Sete, downtown Salvador, and finishes at Hotel da Bahia.

It is the oldest circuit, also known as traditional circuit.

During the parade, approximately 6 Km, it is possible to observe many Salvador's historic points.
